Build Your Trade With Yorkshire’s Most Trusted Damp Proofing Specialists

At Allerton Damp Proofing, we help make homes warmer, healthier and safer.

We’re a team of 45+ skilled tradespeople delivering high-quality damp, mould and property improvement works in homes across Yorkshire.

As our workload continues to grow, we’re looking for Damp & Mould Technicians to join the team.

You don’t necessarily need previous experience in a role called “mould washing”. The work uses specialist mould treatments and coatings, so we’re particularly interested in people from a painting and decorating, property maintenance or skilled labouring background who are confident with surface preparation, applying products properly and leaving a clean, professional finish.

If you’re practical, reliable, comfortable working in people’s homes and take pride in doing a job properly, we can provide the specialist training you need.

What You’ll Get

  • £660 – £742.50 per week, depending on skill level and experience
  • Regular, reliable work year-round; no gaps and no chasing jobs
  • Fortnightly pay; clear, consistent and on time
  • Performance bonuses, including:
  • Monthly and annual performance bonuses
  • Trustpilot cash bonus for every customer review that names you
  • £300 Recruit a Mate reward
  • £100 customer referral bonus
  • Van and fuel card provided
  • Tools, workwear and PPE supplied
  • Tax and admin handled through our approved self-employed service
  • Full induction and specialist damp & mould training
  • On-the-job support from experienced technicians and supervisors
  • Training and progression opportunities within the business
  • Monthly Value Awards with cash prizes and company-wide recognition
  • Discounted food, team events and socials
  • Team competitions and prize draws, from Fantasy Football to sweepstakes

The Work

You’ll be working in domestic and social housing properties across Yorkshire, carrying out damp and mould treatment works.

This can include:

  • Preparing walls, ceilings and affected surfaces ready for treatment
  • Cleaning and treating areas affected by mould
  • Applying specialist mould-resistant treatments and coatings
  • Painting and decorating treated areas to a good standard
  • Protecting floors, furniture and customers’ belongings before starting work
  • Leaving properties clean, tidy and ready for the customer
  • Identifying anything on site that needs escalating to the wider technical or project team
  • Working in both occupied and vacant homes

The specialist products and processes can be taught.

What matters most is that you’re practical, comfortable using decorating tools and materials, able to follow a process and care about the quality of the finish you leave behind.

Who We’re Looking For

We’d particularly like to hear from:

  • Painters and decorators
  • Multi-skilled operatives
  • Property maintenance operatives
  • Experienced labourers with decorating or finishing experience
  • People who have previously worked in social housing, domestic maintenance or occupied properties

You’ll also need:

  • Experience carrying out practical or trade-based work
  • Confidence preparing surfaces and applying paints, coatings or similar products
  • Good attention to detail and pride in your finish
  • Ability to work independently and manage your own jobs
  • A professional and respectful approach when working in customers’ homes
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Reliability and a good work ethic
  • Full UK driving licence (maximum 6 points)

Previous damp and mould experience is helpful, but it isn’t essential. We’ll provide specialist training.

Why Join Allerton

We’re not a faceless contractor.

You’re not fighting for shifts, wondering where the next job is coming from or expected to supply everything yourself.

At Allerton, you get consistent work, proper equipment, specialist training and a team around you that wants you to succeed.

This is also a great opportunity for someone from a painting, decorating or labouring background who wants to develop into a more specialist property maintenance trade.

Many of our people have progressed into specialist and leadership roles because we invest in people who invest in us.

If you want consistent, well-paid work and you care about leaving customers’ homes better than you found them, we’d love to hear from you.
