Encouraging women at HMP Styal into construction roles
The Women and Manual Trades team at Procure Plus recently collaborated with the North West Construction Hub and a number of other key partners, to run an introduction to construction training course for women at HMP Styal, in Cheshire. The aim was to offer women a different pathway into meaningful employment upon release.
The “Have-a-Go” event and the construction introduction course had really had a positive impact on all who attended and has opened up several possibilities specifically for female offenders with barriers to employment.
WaMT team member Keeley Danson, Senior Training and Employment Coordinator, arranged the Health & Safety training as part of the course, and supported the CV writing and interview skills workshop. You can read more about this piece of work on a short slide show, here .
