Overview of the role.

Electrician – Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden

Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden (WBSL) is a purpose built, state-of-the-art film and television studio offering one of the largest facilities in the UK. This 200-acre secure site has half a million square feet of stage space, production offices and workshops together with an exterior filming tank, one of the largest indoor heated underwater filming tanks in Europe and a 100 acre back-lot. WBSL has some of the largest sound stages in the UK and is proving to be a very popular facility for production clients.

WB Leavesden Park, adjacent to the Studio, offers modern and flexible office space for Production Companies. The site also has its own, on-site Set Lighting & Rigging rental division, which provides the industry with state-of-the-art lighting equipment, scaffolding and production supplies for stage and location shoots. WB De Lane Lea based in Soho, London, provides state of the art facilities in audio post-production for feature films and television.

WBSL also have an onsite childcare facility available to WB employees, onsite productions called The WonderWorks and Zone10 – an onsite gym facility to support the physical and mental wellbeing of all our employees.

These facilities make Warner Bros. Entertainment the only Hollywood studio to own and operate a production and post-production facility in the UK.

Primary Purpose of the Job:

Working closely with the Lead Electrician you will ensure that the property/premises are maintained to a high standard and to always ensure safe working practises. In addition, this role is responsible for the maintenance, modification, and installation of electrical systems at WBSL. Tasks will be issued by the Facilities Administrators via the two-way radio and Planon application via a tablet. The Maintenance Manager will assist in prioritising works. You will also be expected to diversify your role such that you will assist with other general maintenance tasks. The role will primarily be based at the Leavesden site but from time to time you may be required to work off site.

Essential Job Functions:

· Carrying out planned and reactive maintenance tasks as requested by the Maintenance Manager and issued by Facilities Administrator.

· Monitor completion of tasks ensuring highest standards of work.

· Reporting progress and updates via all media outlets provided

· Monitor H&S compliance, such as correct PPE being worn, as per the H&S at Work Act and WBSL H&S Policy.

· Follow approved levels of conduct for work methodology within the team.

· Ensure that the sites electrical and mechanical equipment are looked after in such a way as to maintain continuous operation and legal compliance.

· Operating and maintaining mechanical and electrical systems via the Building Management System (BMS)

· Carry out small installation works and modifications to existing systems.

· Fault finding, ensuring satisfactory fault rectification.

· React to all emergency with a view to implement a permanent fix or a temporary safe fix to reduce down-time, working through an escalate process for a quick resolution.

· Undertaking general maintenance tasks and survey inspections including areas at height.

· Audit and review of all stock levels and report to the Senior Electrician any required orders.

· Ensure all maintenance activities and procedures adhere to applicable health and safety legislation, policies, and best practise guidelines.

· Provide out of hours electrical cover for all WB clients.

· Provide assistance and direction to contractors employed within the studio.

· Working within the parameters of your electrical training and all UK electrical legislation

· Ensure all works are completed to a level that reflect the company brand

Skills Required

· Use and maintenance of site plant equipment such as MEWPS (training provide)

· Preferable but not essential skill set – trained to use trailers and forklifts (training provided)

· Working knowledge of industrial and commercial systems

· Preferable but not essential skill set Knowledge of the Business Management System (BMS) system.

· Full working knowledge and adherence to H&S standards.

· Flexibility to work outside normal working hours.

· Be standards driven and detailed orientated.

· Must have the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment

· Must hold a full UK driving license

· Capable of dynamic risk assessing activities being undertaken

· Good communication and interpersonal skills, comfortable working in cross-functional teams.

· Self-motivated, enthusiastic, and capable of working on own initiative and independent working

· Work well under pressure.

· Prepared to participate in other non-engineering business related projects.

· A positive and helpful attitude towards Heath, Safety Welfare, and safe systems of working.

· Collaborate with general contractors and other construction professionals including the facilities team.

Aspirational Education/Qualifications

· Fully qualified ‘Approved Electrician’ with AM2 and City & Guilds 236-2 or equivalent.

· BS7671 18th Edition Electrical Wiring Regulations Accreditation.

· Electricity Supply Regulations Awareness.

· Electricity at Work act awareness.

· JIB/ECS card.

· 2391 inspecting and testing would be advantageous.

· NVQ Level 3

Working Pattern:

You will be required to work a 40-hour week on a rota shift pattern. You will also be required to work evenings and weekends in line with the operating hours of the studio and the studio tour. There will be a requirement to respond to emergencies in and out of normal working hours. You will be required to work some bank holidays.
