Trainee Fire Sprinkler Installer

Hours of work: 08:00 – 17:00 Monday to Friday

Wage: Living wage for age

Location: Manchester

Training: In house

Accountable to: Site Supervisor

Main Purpose of Job:

Working alongside an assigned buddy to install fire sprinkler systems. This involves drilling into walls, measuring and cutting pipe, installing the pipe to the drawings dimensions and pressure testing the system. Working alongside an assigned buddy once installation is complete, pipes are then covered with Pendock (piping casing). This involves measuring, cutting and installing piping casing. Cleaning up the work area, removing the carpet protection, hoovering, dusting and general labouring.

JOB SPECIFICATION

Trainee Fire Sprinkler Installer:

· Prepare area for installation – putting down carpet protection, covering surfaces etc, help the resident move any furniture which might be in the way.

· Carrying all materials that will be needed for the days installation from the van/storeroom to the work area.

· Learning how to read a drawing to determine position of fire sprinkler system.

· Working alongside assigned buddy to install fire sprinkler system – this involves drilling into walls, measuring and cutting pipe, installing the pipe to the drawing, pressure testing the system.

· Working alongside assigned buddy once installation is complete, pipes are then covered with Pendock. This involves measuring and cutting pendock and installing the pendock (piping casing).

· Cleaning up the work area, removing the carpet protection, hoovering and dusting.

· Dispose of all rubbish.

· Maintaining a healthy, safe and secure working environment for self and colleagues

· Providing a polite, helpful and flexible service to clients and the general public

· Talking to the customer, putting them at ease, answering any last-minute questions the residents might have.

· You will receive in house and on-site training.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

· Ideally have labouring experience

· Plumbing technical certificate ideal but not essential

· Good all round practical skills

· The ability to work as part of a team

· A willingness to work flexibly

· An awareness of health and safety
